For At Our House, our journey began with a simple desire for the perfect candle, and it has since evolved into a thriving business known for its commitment to quality, sustainability, and a vast array of delightful fragrances.
The Candle Obsession
Our story starts with a candle enthusiast named James. He had a deep appreciation for the ambiance that candles could create in a home. But there was one issue that had him constantly searching for the perfect candle – he couldn’t find an affordable option that consistently delivered a delightful scent from the very start of the burn to the very end.
From Idea to Reality
James’s obsession with candles led his other half, Brad, to encourage him in trying the art of candle-making. Together they embarked on a journey to create the perfect candle, one that would fill a room with its scent from the moment it was lit until the final flicker. They didn’t stop until they had perfected their craft.
With the newly created candles, Brad and James decided to share their passion with friends and family as Christmas gifts. The response was overwhelming – everyone loved the uniquely fragrant candles that they had poured their hearts into. It was this enthusiastic feedback that gave birth to the idea of sharing these wonderful candles with a broader audience.
The Beginning of Something Beautiful
In 2016, with encouragement and a growing collection of positive feedback, At Our House made its debut at local markets – The Old Bus Depot Market in Kingston (ACT) to be exact. People quickly fell in love with the carefully crafted candles, and our humble start in the market scene soon turned into something much more significant.

Our growth over the years has been a testament to the trust and loyalty of our valued customers. Today, our collection boasts over 50 unique fragrances, all inspired by your recommendations and preferences. We’re continually expanding our range to ensure there’s a scent for every mood and occasion.
A Fresh Look in 2021
As our journey progressed, we wanted our brand to evolve with us. In 2021 during the throws of Covid, At Our House underwent a re-branding process that brought our packaging to a new level of sophistication and elegance. This was our way of ensuring that our products are not only a delight to the senses but also a feast for the eyes. This also gave us the starting point we needed in the wholesale market when we joined TradeSquare (a platform that is sadly no longer running – but if your’e reading this and interested in wholesale, head on over to the Wholesale page.)
